Our boat needed some attention in the cosmetic dept. Our boat was hit by someone last year while in her slip. Never did find out who hit our boat (nice people?). I also scored the the transom pretty good last summer while backing into our slip. I took the advise of our dock neighbor while backing into the slip and he told me I was clear of the dock and as I back in I hit the dock pretty darn good. Took a good size chuck of gel coat out of the transom.
Here is the side where we got hit.

Here is where I bang the transom.

Following my good friend (Bob R) advise I proceded to lightly sand then wipe down the area with the a fiberglass wash ( Interlux 202). I then taped off the area that needed to be fill with gel coat. After filling the area with prepared gel coat I removed the tape before the gel coat dried.

I then sanded light with a wood block with 320 grit sand paper. It came out pretty good.

I still need to sand with 400 grit and then 1000. If I need to I will get some 3M finesse it to remove any light scratches left.
