OK Jeff..... Here is a few things to consider
1) We need or would like anchorage for a raft up.... yes or no?

2) Is this going to be an overnighter?

3) Do folks mind eating on the hook ..cook out etc or restaurant?

4) We need or would like a place that would be protected by the wind.

5) A rain date or subject to weather date.

Karen and I have a few weekends that we will be available this summer.
I work Saturdays so I could make it just about any Sunday providing the weather doesn't hold us at the dock.

Few places we have considered......
Tarpaulin's Cove..great for a day trip but questionable for an overnight stay

Cuttyhunk.. Excellent place but they only allow 2 boats per mooring and anchoring is tough do to eel grass. Slips are first come first serve.

Oak Bluffs ... Great idea but if we do this gathering on a weekend it would be pretty tough to guarantee moorage for everyone.

Onset.. could be doable if we could get anchors to hold the bottom and we can get everyone to deal with Hog Island channel (rough).

I'm open for ideas.
Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound, Nantucket Sound...............

Pete,
Do you plan on making your way down this way sometime this summer?

Pete,
I was really hoping that you could make this gathering. Well if you don't make this gathering and you do make your way down into Buzzards Bay maybe you could give me a call on the cell if you'd like some company on a Sunday afternoon.

Jeff,
 Tarpaulin's works for us.
Anyone else out there interested in a day trip to Tarpaulin's?

 I'll work on a date..........

Anyone else interested in a day trip to Tarpaulin's Cove in the Vineyard Sound? Back the boats right up to the beach. Jump off your swim platform and wade into the beach.

I'm thinking we could make it for a Saturday with a rain/weather delay date for the following weekend?

If we get enough people maybe we could do a "New England Style Clamboil"?

Johnny Crack-a-Mango's Clam boil.......
Fresh Maine steamers
Hot dogs
Breakfast sausage
Chourico and or Linguica
Whole small potatoes
Boiling onions
Corn on the cob
Melted butter
Hot Broth
and Stuffies on the side...................

Ohhhhhhhh Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't look like there is much interest in this?
We could move this gathering to another destination (Cuttyhunk?) .
If this is just going to be a day trip it could be pretty much anywhere that we can reach within and hour and a half.

Thought Matt and Laurie might like to come but they haven't replied in the thread here.

Taking the words out of Cristina's mouth ........ You don't have to be an owner to come.
Wannabe's/Use-to-be's/owners/or just interested parties..... all welcome.....

Maybe I'll spam this over on the Yahoo Owners Group.........

Sorry Barry, I've been watching the thread but figured I'd let the owners decide.  You guys pick the time & place & Laurie & I will be there.  We woulden't miss the chance to get some more ideas & advice!

Great Matt!
I was hoping you could make it.
Keep an eye on this thread. I will try to get a date and rain/weather date for this to happen.

I've got a few date for anyone interested in getting together this summer. Primary date will be Saturday July 19 and a rain/weather delay date of Saturday July 26. How does this work for people?
Karen and I will probably spend the night (Saturday into Sunday) on the hook where ever we meet providing the weather is good etc.

Just to throw in another destination if you are looking for a lot of boats to raftup or use a beach there is of course Block Island .. great salt pond. Shelter Island has 2 nice achorages with plenty of room and a beach; West Neck and Colcles.

Just a thought.....Dave  Lobstertales   NY

Hey Dave,
I know it's not likely we will have lots of interested but I thought I would give it a try.
I didn't think the Maine Boat Show would be a big success but we were thrilled with the turn out.

B.I. or L.I. sound is a great idea but you need a pretty large weather window to make a run over and back from our area. If the weather is great it is no trouble but if the weather turns snotty it can be hell.

We could make B.I. in a morning travel no trouble if the weather was good. We left New Bedford harbor early on a Saturday morning in July 2005 and were in Newport RI around 11 AM. The run from Newport to B.I. is pretty short. We held up in Dutch Harbor on the west side of Jamestown RI to wait for the weekend boaters to leave with plans to head to B.I. early Sunday morning. When we got up Sunday morning we listen to the weather report and they called for small craft advisory. Well we turn around and ran back toward home. We stopped and spent the day at Cuttyhunk before heading back to our home port.
